FIRST DAY FOR TEACHERS 09/06/2011

The Hazel Park High School, Michigan, US, my School on Exchange with Mrs. Amy Zitzelberger, officially reopened on 09/06/2011. Teachers were getting ready, with their syllabus, plans and work sheets etc well ahead of the reopening day. Emily and I completed our planning and printing materials in August itself. Emily was of great help in acquainting me with the staff, building and the technology. The orientation at DC, made me aware of the requirements in the Schools in US. Even though I had the experience of 26 years of teaching , I felt nervous in the new situation. It was always very easy for me in India to get into any class , anytime and win the hearts of students and lead them easily towards learning, discipline, extra curricular activities and ultimately make them score good marks.
I had never ever had any problem, even during my first year of teaching.
For the first time in my career, I was worried if I could reach the students , in the new environment.
Reading the book "the first days of school" by Harry K.Wong and Rosemary T.Wong made me feel better. I stole a few methods from the book and I  was ready, with the class room well arranged, seating numbers displayed, Welcome board, Guidelines and Class room procedures displayed. Who can win over the natural powers.......There were rains from 3rd of September and no electricity supply until 7th September. I could not print the names of students or practice taking attendance online.
